Pink Wall

Shirt // Shorts (similar) // Shoes (similar) // Purse (this year's version) // Scarf (similar) // Sunglasses

Once I find a look I like, I tend to wear variations of the same outfit. This outfit is very similar to mine from my last post but I swapped out my shorts for a different print and flipped the scarf on my bag to show the other print. I found the cutest pink wall that matched the color scheme of my outfit and then my friends and I treated ourselves to some popsicles to kick off spring break.

Tropical Touches

Shirt (on sale!) // Shorts (similar) // Shoes (similar) // Purse (this season's version) // Scarf (similar here and here) // Watch

I talked about the scarf trend I've been loving a few weeks ago in this post and have been tying this scarf around my bag's handles for practically every outfit (it's reversible so it goes with practically everything)! It matches a pair of shorts I picked up from Brooks Brothers at the end of the summer last year perfectly and I think they look so fun together. The flamingo pattern is perfect for the spring and summer and has me so ready for spring break next week (hopefully I will actually get a tan haha). I paired the shorts with this white top from J. Crew Factory I've been wearing nonstop. I love the flutter sleeves and dotted pattern because it adds a different element to an otherwise simple white tee. I kept my accessories minimal and stuck with the navy and white color scheme to keep the attention on the flamingo pieces.

Rainy Day Staples

Rain Jacket (similar on sale!) // Shirt (similar for only $20) // Skirt (similar for under $40)
Shoes (almost identical!) // Watch

I last wore this rain coat in the fall in this post and I already know it will be making more than a few appearances this spring. The bright yellow and blue gingham add the perfect pop of color for the spring and the structured style is fun and different for a more dressed up look. I kept the rest of the look pretty simple since the jacket is a statement piece but did a little pattern mixing with my striped watch strap and gingham lining. Since it has been warming up, I've been opting for these loafers in the rainy weather because they are practically indestructible (I wear them in the rain all the time and they still look brand new)!
Most of the products I'm wearing are no longer available but I linked similar products I could find above.

Picking the Perfect Prom Dress

For most of us, prom is coming up very quickly. After my experience with my dress last year, I knew exactly what I wanted for this year. When my dress came in the mail last year, it hit about 3 inches above the ground without shoes on and the hem couldn't be let out so I was pretty much forced to wear flat shoes. Wearing flats was the best decision because most of the other girls had their shoes off within 30 minutes of the dance but I was able to keep mine on all night. Another big plus was having a dress with pockets because I didn't have to worry about keeping track of my clutch all night and could keep my phone and lipstick with me the whole time.
I personally prefer the more simple style gowns rather than excessively embellished dresses with intricate cutouts. I picked the black Lauren Ralph Lauren one in the widget below. The back crosses and ties in the front which allows you to adjust the fit around the waist to avoid needing alterations. It's so comfy and flattering (and it has pockets:).
Below I gathered a few of my favorite dresses for this season at a few different price points (it was hard to include some in colors other than black and navy)!

Another option I was looking into was Rent The Runway. I had heard of the brand from The College Prepster and prom is the perfect opportunity to try it out. Rent The Runway allows you to rent a designer dress for as little as $80 and offers so many amazing brands. One great thing they do is send you two sizes so you can make sure you have the best fit possible! I was too paranoid that I would rip or stain the dress so I ended up investing in a simple one I knew I could use for future formal events, too.
Some of the dresses I love from Rent the Runway:
How cute is Madeline & Company's new prom line?! I talked about their backpacks a while back when I met Madeline in New York and the new two piece prom dresses are just as fun and unique! I think it's so fun to mix and match skirt and top colors to create your own look (not to mention you can totally reuse the pieces separately for different events).

I am completely aware this is so late for some of you, but if you are looking for a last minute prom dress, I hope this helps give you some options and inspiration!
