Best of 2016

As much as everyone on social media seems to have hated 2016, I definitely had some great moments this past year. I know everyone says this, but I honestly can't believe that 2017 is tomorrow! It feels like there should still be a few weeks left in the year...
Some of my favorite moments in 2016 were voting for the first time, graduating high school and starting school at Elon, going on a trip to the beach with my best friends, and making new friends at school! I thought it would be fun to look back on my stats to see what my most popular blog posts were throughout the year were and share them in this post.

My Freshman Year Bucket List For Elon
I can already check off going to Cookout at midnight (this has probably happened more than a dozen times), attending college coffee, visiting a friend at their college and attending the President's Christmas party!

Hope you all had an amazing year!

After Christmas Sales

I thought I was all shopped out after the holiday season, but all my favorite stores put new stuff on sale and I couldn't resist. Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale and the Brooks Brothers Semi-Annual Sale have kicked off and are going on until January 2.

I saw these Ferragamo sandals on Sydney's blog and couldn't pass up the deal... 60% off! They are a classic style that I know won't go out of style. There's also a lot of Vineyard Vines on sale, so now is the time to invest in a Shep Shirt.

The Red Fleece line at Brooks Brothers is my absolute favorite and they have so many great pieces on sale (tons of plaids and fun wintery prints)! This asymmetrical top has been styled on the blog multiple times and is a great staple in any wardrobe.

Merry Christmas and a happy new wardrobe!

Christmas in Chicago

Jacket // Scarf // Sweater (similar) // Jeans // Boots (on sale!) // Mittens (similar) // Purse

This year I spent Christmas in Chicago visiting my grandparents. I got my Portillo's fix (finally tried a chocolate cake shake, 10/10), saw the window displays at Macy's on State Street, and ate too much at Grandma's house. It's always fun to go downtown during the holidays to see all the decorations and take advantage of all the good sales. While we didn't end up buying anything, it was fun to be part of that pre-Christmas hustle and bustle. I wore my trusty Barbour jacket (dad got a matching one for Christmas :) and layered up. Luckily it warmed up and was in the 30s and 40s for our visit, but this North Carolina girl was still pretty cold walking around downtown.
I had a great time celebrating with family and hope all of y'all had a very merry Christmas!

Winter Plaid

I ordered this plaid popover/jacket on Cyber Monday after seeing it on PJ's blog. It's so cute and comfy and I have been wearing it way too often since it arrived in the mail. I just can't get enough of the plaids and tartans around Christmastime! I've been wearing it layered over a t-shirt or a turtleneck like I am here and it keeps me plenty warm for the NC weather. This ensemble looks super cute and cozy with jeans and riding boots or with leggings and tennis shoes- I have worn it both ways!
This post is in collaboration with Meg of A Sunny State of Mind, who styled the most adorable pair of plaid pants, and PJ of Soulfully Southern, who is sharing the perfect look to wear on Christmas!

Christmas Plaid & Peacoat

Coat (40% off!) // Scarf (similar) // Jeans // Boots (on sale!) // Pearl Necklace (c/o) // Sunglasses

My favorite kind of Christmas decorations are the simple ones like wreaths on every door and window, big red bows and candles in the windows. I love walking or driving around town to see all the decorations and it's actually been cold enough that I needed to bundle up in a cozy scarf and peacoat. This red and white scarf looked perfect to me for the holidays and I just paired it with navy and white (because what else would you do). I'm sure not used to this chilly weather yet, but I'll have to be soon when I head up to Chicago during break!

Houndstooth Shift

Dress (similar) // Bracelet (c/o) // Flats // Nail Color

Finally getting around to posting these photos from Thanksgiving (how is it almost Christmas already!). My parents and I had a delicious, low key dinner and filled up on all of the classics. We made this salted caramel chocolate pecan pie but I could barely eat any of it after our turkey dinner!

I picked up this Brooks Brothers dress on major sale a while back and knew it would be perfect for the fall and Thanksgiving season. It was pretty warm in North Carolina this November so I was able to get away with wearing a sleeveless dress but the heavier material made it more appropriate for the season. Once again, I stuck with the classics, pearl earrings and bracelet and nude flats.
