Friday Finds 3/30/2018

Happy Friday y'all! Spring has finally sprung in NC and this warm weather was me wanting to buy all the spring clothes. Especially after spending the past week in Florida, I'm ready for the nice weather to stay. I did a lot of browsing on Nordstrom this week and they added a ton of cute dresses under $100. Forever 21 is also doing an awesome deal and you can get two bathing suit pieces for $16!

Miscellaneous Finds:

  • I am seriously loving Spire & Co's rebrand! Sign up for their Energy Email here for some Monday motivation in your inbox.
  • America Runs on Dunkin'.... literally. Saucony and Dukin' just announced a sneaker collaboration and while I love Dunkin' I'm not sure I want my running shoes to have donuts and coffee beans on them! What do y'all think?
  • Interesting article about how having your phone in the room with you (even if it's turned off) still has a negative impact on your work.
Hope you had a great week!

Spring Break Recap

I'm back to reality after a fun and relaxing spring break with my friends in St. Augustine. Four of my best friends from Elon and I headed down to Florida for the week to celebrate my friend Emily's birthday! We were lucky enough to rent a house right on the beach so we spent a lot of time out on the porch just reading and hanging out. We did end up wearing sweatshirts and blankets out on the beach because it was so windy, but it sure beat the weather back in NC and was the perfect way to take it easy for the week. When we came back to Elon on Saturday it was snowing and we were ready to hop back in the car and head back to Florida!

We walked around Flagler's campus after mass on Sunday. It's such a pretty campus and so different from Elon. See my outfit details in this blog post!

We ventured over to downtown St. Augustine for one afternoon and did some shopping and snacking over there after lunch at an awesome food truck, Crave. We strolled around the touristy areas and then popped over to some side streets and checked out some cute boutiques. My favorite was Declaration Clothing which had the cutest clothing, accessories, and gifts! My favorite spot for coffee was The Kookaburra Coffee on the island - I loved the iced Mocha Nut!

Strawberry lemonade popsicle break at The Hyppo Ice Pop Bar.

We celebrated Emily's birthday with dinner at the Ice Plant which is an old ice plant restored into a vintage restaurant and bar. Everything we ordered was so so good and they had so many fun mocktails.

It was such a fun week filled with amazing memories! Now back to Elon for just a few weeks before summer hits!

Spring Gingham

Shirt (c/o, only $11!) | Denim Jacket | White Jeans | Crossbody (similar)

I've been drawn to everything gingham this season and am loving this fun peplum top that is a steal on SheIn. I have placed multiple orders with SheIn before and think it's a great way to try out trendy pieces without making the investment. I am (finally) on spring break and sported this look to mass and dinner in downtown St. Augustine. It was the perfect transitional spring outfit and I had to break out the white jeans before Memorial Day.

Recent Reads No. 4

As busy as I've been at school, I have been able to take a few minutes before bed to read every night. Once again, I've been reading a lot of nonfiction books. Below are my four most recent reads.
Let me know what y'all have been reading lately! I'm headed to the beach for spring break next week and a looking for recommendations on what to read.

Presence by Amy Cuddy

I picked up this book after hearing Carly rave about it on her blog and it definitely lived up to the hype. I wanted to read this book because I dread giving presentations and get flustered giving an elevator pitch and think that's an area of my life that could definitely use a confidence boost. The book is about how to be more present and powerful in presentations and meetings and in life in general. It was really interesting to read about how her tips have proven to be effective through research and personal stories.

A Simplified Life by Emily Ley

After reading Grace, Not Perfection I was so excited to read Emily's newer book, A Simplified Life. While I loved gaining some insight into Emily's life after following her on Instagram for some time in her first book, A Simplified Life didn't seem to do the same for me. This book was more of a collection of tips but I didn't think it provided many new or original ideas. I would definitely read Grace, Not Perfection before A Simplified Life!

Perfectly Yourself by Matthew Kelly

Each Christmas and Easter my church gifts every family with a book by Matthew Kelly and I always intended to read them but never seemed to get around to it. This year I told myself I would actually read one of his books during Lent and I'm just about finished with Perfectly Yourself: Discovering God's Dream For You. The book addresses identifying your purpose and how to live a fulfilled life. Great book for finding motivation to be your best self! I am loving this book because the ideas Kelly provides are very applicable to everyday life.

Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance

This is a book I actually read for a class this semester. I'm taking a Country Music Culture class for my literature class and this book focuses on the struggles of America's working class. I was glad we had to read it for class because I kept seeing it at the bookstore every time I went but never actually picked it up. The book takes you through the life of J.D. Vance who goes from barely graduating high school to later attending Yale Law School. Very interesting read!

What have y'all read recently? Looking for recommendations!!

Bell Sleeve Sweater & Statement Earrings

Sweater (on sale for $20!!) | Jeans | Sandals | Tote | Earrings | Ring | WatchSunglasses | Nail Color

Hey y'all! Finally back with a new outfit post after a long hiatus. After studying abroad, recruitment, and another trip I had to get back into the swing of things at school so the blog was put on the back burner. My parents were here this weekend for my sorority's dad's weekend so we snapped some outfit pictures after brunch. The weather has been kind of all over the place so I was able to break out the Jack Rogers, but today it's back to wintery weather again.
I've been getting so much use out of this sweater which is on sale for $20 right now! It's so cozy and has the cutest bell sleeves. I also finally hopped on the trend with these statement earrings that I found for a steal on Amazon for less than $10 (you can also find them in stores at Walmart for even cheaper)! I love the fun touch they added to this simple outfit.
